Congratulations Venus ... thanks for making my year once again.

You've already had a great year.  I wish you much success against Justin in the semis of the 2007 U.S. Open!

Not that I am counting on James Blake to ever win a Grand Slam tennis event but he seems to come up big at the U.S. Open ... of course it will probably be Roger Federer who will win in Arthur Ashe stadium ... In any event I love the U.S. Open and look forward to watching many matches over the next 2 weeks.  Good luck to all.  I am pulling for Venus Williams and James Blake.

OK so I didn't quite predict it but if you look at the blog post I did at the beginning of the Wimbeldon 2007 tournament I featured a photo of Venus Williams and spoke of how much I wanted her to win at least one more Wimbeldon title.  Well I called my mother this morning at 9:00 MT knowing that she would have watched the finals match between Venus Williams and the upstart Marion Bartoli.  My mother answered the phone "Yes! ... Yes! ... Yes!".  I knew then and there that my prayers had been answered and Venus Ebony Starr Williams had won another Wimbeldon title.  CONGRATULATIONS VENUS ... YOU ROCK! ... Now get another U.S. Open and you can retire! It's my only regret that I didn't get a chance to watch much of this year's Wimbeldon but believe you me come September I'll be watching the U.S. Open at summer's end.  I love tennis.  Thanks to my mother for turning me on to this great sport.

Just a short while ago I posted about my love for the game of tennis and how much I wished Venus Williams to do well in this year's Wimbledon tournament.  It looks real good for Venus so far.  She's always been my favorite of the Williams sisters.  I'll keep saying my prayers Venus and hope that you advance pass the semifinals to go on and win the whole thing.  Job well done thus far my sister, indeed ...

 

This summer is going swell for me in ABQ.  I'd venture to say it's been one of the best summers of my life.  I am getting plenty of sun, eating well, and enjoying my neighbors and friends company in ABQ.

My mother is a huge tennis fan and she has passed the love of the game on to me.  I always love this time of summer when Wimbledon starts and we look forward to the U.S. Open.  Go Venus ... get one more!

It's been a pretty good week for me here in New Mexico.  I've spent a lot of time driving on I-25 North.  I went to Las Vegas, New Mexico this week as well as Santa Fe.  I also spent a brief amount of time in Las Lunas, New Mexico.

My apartment is finally starting to come together.  There will be pictures forthcoming, I promise.  I am trying to set up a Flickr account and really get the ball rolling with my digital camera while I am on the road.

I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend, catching up on work a bit and then watching some U.S. Open tennis.  There's supposed to be a pretty good BBQ place in ABQ run by a Black man originally from the South.  It's called Mr. Powdrell's Barbeque House ... So I'll see if I can suss him out ...

With regard to U.S. Open tennis ... of course I'm rooting for James Blake

and with Venus out of the picture, I am very interested in what Serena Williams will do ... Happy Labor Day weekend all ... I guess summer is over ... looking forward to a productive fall and a wonderful holiday season in November and December.
