The NBA playoffs are in the first round and I have yet to really start following. I am pulling for the Boston Celtics to do it all. I am sooooo loving the NBA playoff advertising concept "There Can Only Be One". The one featuring LeBron James and Kevin Garnett is below.
Man it's been quite awhile since I've written on this blog. Winter got me down. Work keeps me occupied and I have not had a reliable broadband conncection for awhile. However now winter is winding down in ABQ. My job is a little less hectic and demanding and my broadband connection is more constant.
Hmmm ... I wrote that I would be exploring Lawrence Lessing, current events in Africa, the state of the Internet, and Web 2.0 when I did start blogging again. I will indeed find myself writing about those topics soon. However I need to really focus on the candidacy of Barak Obama and it's relevance to my life and my political values.
I just got done reading a spot on article in the latest edition of one of my favorite magazines, "Fast Company". The article is entitled "The Brand Called Obama". The thrust of the article is the ramifications and implications of the Obama candidacy on the marketplace and business. The article can be read here.
Although I am quite tired of the media circus that the 2008 democratic presidential primary season has become, I am becoming more and more interested to see if Obama can pull of the nomination and the eventual presidency. The past eight years have totally jaded my opinion of electoral politics and the candidacy of Obama has been a bright point.
For Christmas, my father gave me Obama's book The Audacity of Hope on CD and I have listened to about half of it. I was immediately struck by the way Obama thinks and expresses himself. This man is very intelligent and highly articulate. Godspeed Barak Obama you have truly changed the face of American politics. You have my vote.
I've come out previously on this blog in support of Bill Richardson's candidacy for President of the United States. I continue to be bolstered by my choice after living in New Mexico for nine months now and learning about the things Richardson has done for this state and also listening to New Mexico locals/natives discuss their views of this man. On paper Richardson is more qualified than Hillary or Obama, the media/money darlings of the moment. Nonetheless Richardson still faces an uphill battle for name recognition and fund raising. It's time to seriously start paying attention folks to what type of presidency we want the United States to have in the post George W. Bush years. There will be a great deal of work to be done and I still think Richardson is the man.
The news yesterday was about Hillary Clinton obatining a political endorsement from Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa of Los Angeles. This is obviously an important endorsement as Villaraigos is one of the most well connected Democrats in California and among the most influential Latinos in the nation. It will be interesting to see how this will effect the Richardson campaign among Latino voters in Los Angeles. The New York Times reported yesterday ... “Governor Richardson is more interested in getting the support of Latino voters rather than big-name Latino leaders,” said the spokesman Pahl Shipley. “He has never felt that high-profile endorsements help much in a campaign.”.
I invite you to view video clips of Bill Richardson discussing his energy plan and views on the war in Iraq from the organization Democracy For America. The link is here.
