Alan Seid - 8 Shields/ ACORN model
During my "down" time now in ABQ I have begun volunteering and affiliating myself with a local non-profit organization called the Sustainable Global Leadership Alliance (SGLA). Yesterday I attended a workshop for SGLA board members, staff, and volunteers. This workshop was directed by Alan Seid of Washington state who spoke to us about what is known as the 8 Shields/ACORN model. The 8 Shields/ACORN model is an organizational system based on the concept of the Native American medicine wheel. It's uses are manifold but what struck me most about the system was its emphasis on consenus in decision making and patterns based on nature. Thanks Alan for your presentation.
